There is an abundance of speculation about this year, and like it or not, 2012 is here. Many joke around with the idea of the end of the world coming in 2012, and it seems as if proudly surviving countless prophecies of apocalyptic times before means it won’t happen this time.
I’m not saying the end of the world is coming this December 21st, but this year will offer the Church an even greater opportunity to shine the light of Christ to a world in darkness. In many ways, the return of Christ on December 21st almost sounds more pleasant than the tribulations we will endure in 2012.
It’s really common to hear Christians complain about how our society is loosing its moral foundations and forgetting all about God. While this is true, can we really be surprised? Did we really expect living the Christian lifestyle would be easy? Jesus did not give us a overly plush, comfy chair, Jesus commanded us to pick up our cross and follow him.
Yes, there is a war of Christianity. The people of God have been under attack since the incident at the Tree of Life. Rather than complaining we’re being picked on, this year provides the Church another opportunity to convert the world by the love of Jesus.
It may sound strange that I Jesus’ return would be more pleasant, but our soul thirst more deeply to be with Him above anything else. If we live in friendship with Him, our mortal end would only profit our souls.
There are lives to be saved in the womb, and there are lives to be saved outside of the womb. There is work to do to help the world find peace today. There is work to do to take everyone we can with us to heaven.
Through obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, we can do what He wants from us. 2012 will have it’s trials, but no sacrifice or offering will go in vain. If you haven’t already, I pray the entire church can bend its knees and pray to offer God our first and our best of this year. There is work to do, but we cannot do it alone. Take heart!
I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have hardship, but be courageous: I have conquered the world.
John 16:33
Happy New Year! May it be blessed.
