The Harvest Is Abundant But The Laborers Are Few…Or Are They?

It’s not so much that the laborers are few. It’s that they are all too busy working on their own crap…

Years ago God placed it in my heart to be in media. The funny thing is, as is in most cases, I took something that God had put in my heart and instead of using it for His good I chose to use it for my own.  I spent many years and lots of money building up a production company that ultimately didn’t account for much.  Afterwards, I spent a lot of time wondering where I went wrong. Was I not talented enough? Did I not commit enough time to it? Eventually I chalked a lot of this up to just one of those things that young people go through, trying to “find myself” and all that mess. I never for one moment took the time to try and see God’s hand in my journey.

Fast forward a few years: a wife, two kids and a very profound reversion experience, and I’ve learned something.  The Lord never lets our experiences go to waste, He is the ultimate recycler.  Even when we are away from Him doing our own thing, He is there.  Not only is He there, but He can use us and our experiences in the most profound ways. Ways that you would never think possible, ideas that alone you know deep down you would have never come up with.  God has given us all talents and he wants us to share those talents for His glory, not bury them in the ground or squander them.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “I’m just a computer programmer” or “I’m just a stay at home mom.” Well I’m here to tell you that kind of thinking is baloney. You’re just a computer programmer? Well then, be the best computer programmer for God there has ever been. Let the majesty of His creation shine in the programs you create. You’re just a stay at home mom? Let me tell you that God has placed it in your heart to raise up the men and women of tomorrow. Be Christ to them. Show them in a real way the love of the Trinitarian God.  No one is just this or that, you are a child of God. This means that if you were the only person on Earth He still would have died for your sins.

So whatever it is you are out there doing, if you are doing it for yourself…stop. Start doing it for the Lord, and I promise you it will make all the difference in the world.
