Ecclesiastes 3

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance

Attention singles of Austin! Februrary 8th is the time to Dance! This February the 8th the Catholic Singles Serving Central Texas and the Austin Catholic Singles are proud to host the share the love charity ball to benefit the Catholic Charities of Central Texas.

The charity ball will take place at the San Jose Church Hall  [2435 Oak Crest] from 7:30-10:30. The ball will have a sock-hop theme so come in your best 50s Vintage and Cocktail Attire. We will have a quick swing  dance lesson at 7:30 and of course at 8 we start the dance!  Before the event we will be enjoying pre-party dining at several good restaurants down town  (Opal Divines, Docs Bar and Grill, Elizabeth St. Cafe, Bombey Bistro, Vespio [I’ll be here], Little Mexico and Gueros Taco Bar). We save a seat for you if you reserve it on charity-ball-dine-out.eventbrite.com !

The cost of the event is a suggested $15 dollar donation, that I am particularly proud to say goes straight to the Catholic Charities of Central Texas. CCCTX is dedicated to helping meet the needs of residents in the Diocese of Austin. Some of their important charitable work includes:

  • Case management and referrals for financial assistance, disaster relief, counselling, job training, and child care
  • Running the Gabriel Project Life Centers. The GPLC’s provide a wide range of free services to support families facing crisis pregnancy’s through the first year after birth
  • Providing affordable legal consultation and representation for low income immigrants of all faith and cultural-ethnic backgrounds
  • Coordinating and cooperating with emergency relief efforts under the direction of the Bishop of the Diocese of Austin

The CCCTX Executive Director, Sara Ramirez, will be at the event to give a short speech about the work of this important organization. Please make your donation today at http://ccctx.org/events/sharethelove/.

If you have been reading my blog consistently in the past I have challenged you to do many things. Some challenges might have stretched your faith. Some challenges might have pushed your comfort zone. For all these there was a season. But today I challenge you to Dance! I challenge you to take this time to dance to laugh and to celebrate with your brothers and sisters. And together we will share a little of our treasure and our joy with those in Austin who really need it. I’ll be there; will you dance with me?
