Church News:

  • The Austin Prayer Vigil is scheduled for Nov. 17 at St. Paul in Austin. Mass will begin at 7 a.m. Following the Mass, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be in the church and a caravan will travel to Whole Women’s Health on N. IH 35 where the rosary will be prayed at the site from 8:20 – 9:50 a.m. Benediction will follow at St. Paul at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served at 10:40 a.m. All are invited to attend. For more information contact Bob Christiansen at (512) 255-8551.
  • Spirit and Truth – Mark your calendars for a special 3 year anniversary night on November 12, 2012 at 7PM.  Msgr. Mike Sis will be joining us and we will be having a reception afterwards. St Albert the Great Catholic Church – 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin, TX 78758
  • The UCC Speaker Series continues with a “rewind” presentation. In February, Sr. Mary Clare Underbrink, IWBS, made an enlightening presentation, so we have invited her back to speak to a new audience. Sr. Clare is a member of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament Sisters and teaches theology at St. Joseph High School in Victoria. Her academic background also includes education, mathematics, history, and French.
    • Sr. Clare will speak on our modern call to be mystics and prophets in the world. Mysticism isn’t just for people with “of” in their names, like St. John of the Cross (“The Dark Night of the Soul”), St. Teresa of Avila (“The Interior Castle”), and newly canonized St. Hildegard of Bingen. Prophets do more than tell the future, so they didn’t necessarily stop after St. John the Baptist. Just as we are all called to be saints, we are all called to have mystical experiences of God and to speak the words of God to his people.
    • “Called to Be Mystics and Prophets” is absolutely free. It will be held Wednesday November 14th at the University Catholic Center. All are welcome. Free parking is limited to parishioners with permits in designated spaces. Paid parking is available at the Dobie Garage.
