Prayer

[The following posting, written by Joe Sales, originally appeared on his blog on April 25, 2010 and is reprinted with his permission.]

There are so many prayers i have gotten to know over the years. If  someone were to ask me the question, what are your favorite prayers? Well in all honesty, the prayers that reach heaven  And yes i do believe every prayer reaches heaven. But really, my favorite prayers would be the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet.
I know there have been many times where i wasn’t sure how to pray or even what to pray about.  My suggestion, If you ever find yourself in that situation, remember the following words
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.”

Your prayer time  can be as long or as short as you want it to be. I know for me, I usually take about 15 minutes to half hour out of my day to pray.
Another thing to remember is to pray with your heart. God knows all and sees all.  Whatever is on your heart, tell God about it. You may think that something may seem silly, but even that something is very important to God.  God is your friend. Speak to him as you would any of your friends.
In closing, I ask that you think about this verse from the bible.
Matthew 26:40 says When he returned to his disciples, he found them asleep, he said to Peter, “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour?

Pax,
Joe
