The beauty of good art is not just superficial positive emotions about Jesus, rather beauty is in support and extension of Truth. It requires craftsmanship and skill to execute effectively. In recent generations, with a lack of training and attention on the arts, parishes scrambled to find whatever was available. This happened most prominently in music ministry.

The liturgy is the work of the people, and it deserves our first and our best in honor of our Lord. Music is an integral part of Holy Mass, and it provides many great opportunities to pray together as a community through music. In most of our parishes, the majority of those that serve in music ministry are volunteers, and usually with little to no formal training. Praise be to God, that His Holy Spirit generously gives many gifts and talents to share with His Church, but there is always an opportunity for all of us to learn and grow in our gifts.

There is a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in learning from a veteran music minster, Jesse Manibusan, in a morning workshop at St Michael’s Academy January 24, 2015. Jesse has been doing his given mission for over 26 years and continues to serve the Church around the world with his gift of music. He is perfectly positioned to share his experience, tips, guidance, and gifts with a new generation of music ministers.

If you’re not into serving in music ministry, you can also go to his concert on Friday night, January 23rd.

Come join singer, songwriter, speaker, and storyteller Jesse Manibusan for a fun weekend of music, prayer and renewal.
