Once upon a time, a time called “forever now,” there were some beautiful old roses that could talk in beautiful ways through a special root system they had underground. They looked as if they were planted far apart but really under the soil their roots were intertwined and they heard everything each of the others said in that silent language that roses have.<\/p>\n

So when you see the white rose nodding… quietly in the wind you will know she is getting a message and she says, “Yes, I have felt that way myself many times,” only she doesn’t really say anything. The others just know in their roots. And that is how it is with roses. They just know. It’s that simple. In the dark they go on whispering in their sleep and they wait for sunrise at dewfall, all together knowing when the first ray touches the first petal.<\/p>\n

And roses never worry about anything else. All they know is now. All they know is love.<\/p>\n

And they are always speaking about it. \u2665<\/p>\n

*I used to make up this sort of thing for my daughters, Maire and Roise, at bed time. It isn’t even a regular story, I know. But it’s comforting, and it’s the kind of thing I like to think about- epsecially when I’m going to sleep. And anyway, it’s a true story, really, if you think about it. I wrote this one for my mother-in-law, Ann, during a difficult time when it was hard for her to be apart from us.\u00a0 “Sleep well. Dream of roses and just be.”<\/strong><\/p>\n
