Austin, Texas, October 3, 2013<\/strong> \u2013 October brings many faith-filled activities to the\u00a0campus of St. Theresa Catholic School commemorating religious persons whose\u00a0lives are great examples of virtue, and prayer and love. The school also joins Catholic\u00a0children throughout the world in a special children\u2019s hour of prayer during this month.<\/p>\n

St. Theresa of Lisieux Feast Day<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In honor of their patron saint, St. Theresa of Lisieux, the community.of elementary and\u00a0middle school students, teachers and parents prayed a Novena, nine days of prayer\u00a0with special intentions for each day, leading up to the saint\u2019s feast day on October 1st.<\/p>\n

St. Theresa, a contemplative Carmelite nun who lived in the late 1800\u2019s, was known for\u00a0her \u201cLittle Way\u201d, in which she did small things with great love during her short life of 24\u00a0years.<\/p>\n

St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrating the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi on October 4th,\u00a0is a school favorite.\u00a0Children and parents bring their beloved pets for the \u201cBlessings of the Animals\u201d in which\u00a0Father Wade Russell, associate pastor of St. Theresa, sprinkles them with holy water.<\/p>\n

St. Francis founded the Franciscan religious order in the early 1200\u2019s. Though he was\u00a0born wealthy, he devoted himself to a life of poverty. St. Francis is also commonly\u00a0known for his love of animals; he loved God and all His creatures, great and small.<\/p>\n

Worldwide Children\u2019s Eucharistic Holy Hour<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On October 4th, St. Theresa\u2019s school children joined other children in over 140 countries\u00a0in praising Jesus in the Eucharist, the body of Christ. This 11th\u00a0annual celebration is one\u00a0for spiritual unity of these children in the Body of Christ.<\/p>\n
