Last year, I went to my first Men’s Mass celebrated at St Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Austin. It was a really great experience to come together as Men of the same faith. We were are all of all ages and from different backgrounds, vocations, and cultures, but we all came as men seeking Jesus. We united with our shepherd, Bishop Joe, and prayed for all of our intentions through the most powerful prayer of the Church.<\/p>\n

It’s not easy to live out masculinity in holiness today. Many men have lost sight of what it means to be a man of God today, and fraternal community is essential in our daily battles for prayer, support, and encouragement. Every time we try to do it alone, it becomes too easy to grow lazy or give up in our pursuit of virtue. This in turn has a big effect on the people around us, especially for the women in our lives.<\/p>\n

Sometimes it’s difficult to carve out time away from our jobs, responsibilities, friends, and family, but I encourage you to try and join us this weekend for a great event and celebration of the Eucharist with out Bishop and other Catholic men from around the Diocese.<\/p>\n

Last year we almost filled the Cathedral, and it would be great to see it get to capacity this year.<\/p>\n
