Proper discernment is not, “Yeah, I thought about it once or twice.” Discernment is seeking God’s will for you. It is reflection, prayer, and most importantly, quiet so that you might hear the whisper of truth. Ultimately, the goal of discernment is peace. Peace in trusting God’s will and peace in submitting yourself to live it.<\/p>\n
Discernment is not easy! Luckily for you, sisters from around the diocese are coming together to help you. Project Miriam is hosted by the Diocese of Austin Vocations Office.<\/a> Project Miriam isn’t a sales pitch or a “recruitment”. Rather, it’s an opportunity to provide you with the tools you need to chisel away at the discernment process. Even if you’re certain you’re called to married or single life, you’ll still find benefit in coming together with other women from around the Diocese to express your love for God and experience His in return.<\/p>\n I myself have been the last two years and have found it to be enlightening. You’ll read scripture, pray together, and listen to the sisters and Fr. Brian McMaster (the Vocations Director) as they share their wisdom. (They’ll be really humble about it, though.) \ud83d\ude42 There’s also going to be mass with the Bishop and lunch following where you’ll get an opportunity to ask questions and speak with him as well as all the other sisters. You’ll meet other women from around the Diocese and come together with your love for God in the hopes of doing his will. You’ll laugh, walk with Mary, be surrounded by the beauty of the Cathedral and the presence of the Holy Spirit, and receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
