{"id":359813,"date":"2017-02-06T14:17:11","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T20:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atxcatholic.com\/?p=359813"},"modified":"2017-02-14T15:07:47","modified_gmt":"2017-02-14T21:07:47","slug":"a-prayer-during-darkness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atxcatholic.com\/index.php\/2017\/02\/a-prayer-during-darkness\/","title":{"rendered":"A Prayer during Darkness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-328700\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/atxcatholic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/lightstock_365881_download_medium_cris_a-550x367.jpg?resize=550%2C367\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is a poem that I wrote one day when I felt as though I was in darkness. \u00a0It has helped me to pray with it when my prayer feels dry.<\/p>\n<p><b>Darkness <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Darkness!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The light of the flame that brought me here now begins to dull and I feel lost<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My prayer was once as sweet as honey, now it feels like a tart of pure sourness<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How God am I to continue with you if I am but a lazy man<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I struggle now more than ever because it seems as though you are now silent and not speaking!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What happened to our loving conversations where you would tell me how much you loved me!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have we now become so apart that you can\u2019t stand me?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No, I refuse to believe that you no longer wish to see me. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am your child, your son!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Help me Father!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hear me as I yell to you for help!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My light has dimmed but yet I continue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My struggles have increased yet I will go on!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My cross gets heavier, yet I will carry on!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My words are scarce yet I will pray!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Father, my Father!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do with me what you must yet give me the ability to always pray and fight temptation and the strength to withstand!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a poem that I wrote one day when I felt as though I was in darkness. \u00a0It has helped me to pray with it when my prayer feels dry.
