Being the father of young children we watch our fair share of kid\u2019s movies. If you\u2019ve watched any of these over the years you\u2019ve noticed a growing trend of inserting \u201cadult\u201d humor that normally goes over the heads of the kiddos.\u00a0 Now while I can appreciate a certain amount of this. Especially after watching the first ten minutes of \u201cGnomeo and Juliet\u201d, our latest kid\u2019s movie night entry. Sometimes I find myself asking Melissa, \u201cdid they just say that?\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve also noticed that there is a direct correlation to the quality of the movie and the amount of adult humor that is inserted into it.\u00a0 Like any other movie that is weak on story and character development, all can be put right by the addition of the right amount of potty humor and sophomoric pranks.\u00a0 At least that\u2019s what the creators of such films would want you to believe.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t have to be this way though. There are plenty of examples of good movies that are being made for kids that won\u2019t cause parents to tear their eyes out, Pixar proves this time and time again.<\/p>\n

So before you take out another mortgage to take your kids to the movies make sure you are doing your due diligence and checking solid movie review sites.
