My husband and I finally had some time over the weekend to watch a movie. We have been so busy we hadn’t had time to squeeze in a movie in over two months.

We decided to watch the October Baby movie for the first time this weekend. Honestly, I was expecting a little cheese, but it did not have much to my surprise.

To warn you, there are spoilers in this blog…

First, the cinematography was beautifully filmed. The plot unfolds and is about a girl, Hannah Lawson, who suffers from severe asthma, epilepsy and depression. While in college, she finds out she was adopted and finds an even greater surprise. She was a failed abortion.

Through the discovery of being a failed abortion, she finds out she had a twin brother who died 4 months after their birth, because of the complications from the failed abortion.

Hannah decides she need some answers and begins to search for her birth mom. She decides to go on a trip with her friends, who are willing to stop in the town, where her own failed abortion took place. A combination of adventure and romance ensues.

This is a very touching story about forgiveness, here’s why.

For Hannah, it’s because she suddenly has to find forgiveness for being unwanted by her birth parents, and by society in a sense, because the abortion attempt was allowed to take place by a doctor.

For Hannah’s birth mom, Cindy Hastings. Hannah eventually finds her and has to come to terms with the possibility her birth mom will never want her.

My favorite scene is when Hannah is asked by a police officer, “What will you say to your birth mother?” She responds with “I don’t know. This question is the question I often wonder what the 53 Million babies would say. When Hannah finds her birth mom, Cindy’s office, she simply leaves her a note written

“I forgive you.”

I believe truly this is what they would all say, because they are with God and know God. We have a 53 million army of babies who have been aborted in heaven we can call on to pray with us to overturn the laws of abortion.

Cindy Hastings, Hannah’s birth mother realizes at that moment she reads “I forgive you,” she has been forgiven by God. In a commentary video, Chari Rigby, the actress who was Cindy Hastings, shares her story which is similar to the character she portrayed. I have included a link of her actual testimony here.

Chari regrets her abortion to this day but is still able to find forgiveness through the loving mercy of God.

At the end the movie, I thought it was so moving, Gianna Jessen, who is an abortion survivor and has cerebral palsy from the abortion attempt, sang the song in the closing scenes and credits. Listen to her sing and hear a little about her story here,

High quality movies similar to this one, can promote the Pro-life cause to a new level, to communicate the value of life that cannot be denied.

I am thankful for life this Thanksgiving.
