{"id":224360,"date":"2016-03-13T13:37:41","date_gmt":"2016-03-13T18:37:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atxcatholic.com\/?p=224360"},"modified":"2016-03-21T11:53:13","modified_gmt":"2016-03-21T16:53:13","slug":"sunday-says-podcast-march-13-2016-mass-readings-reflections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atxcatholic.com\/index.php\/2016\/03\/sunday-says-podcast-march-13-2016-mass-readings-reflections\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday Says Podcast &#8211; March 13, 2016 Mass Readings and Reflections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/atxcatholic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/SundaySaysPodcast-logo.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41486\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-41486\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/atxcatholic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/SundaySaysPodcast-logo-300x231.jpg?resize=247%2C190\" alt=\"SundaySaysPodcast-logo\" width=\"247\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fifth Sunday in Lent<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.universalis.com\/20160313\/mass.htm\">Sunday March 13, 2016<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lectionary: 36 (<a href=\"http:\/\/wwwmigrate.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/031316-fifth-sunday-lent.cfm\"><b>NAB Translation<\/b><\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><b>Reading 1<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wwwmigrate.usccb.org\/bible\/isaiah\/43:16\"><b>Isaiah 43:16-21<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s first reading is from the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament.\u00a0 This passage from Isaiah is a message of hope directed to God&#8217;s people who are in exile in Babylon.\u00a0 It is a reminder that despite their sins, if they sincerely repent, they will be given an opportunity to start anew.\u00a0 This is always the hope that God promises to His people and is our hope today.<\/p>\n<p><b>Responsorial Psalm<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usccb.org\/bible\/psalms\/126:1\"><b>Psalm 126:1-6<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The response for this Psalm is:\u00a0 &#8220;The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Reading 2<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wwwmigrate.usccb.org\/bible\/philippians\/3:8\"><b>Philippians 3:8-14<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second reading comes from the letter of St. Paul to the Philippians. This passage is packed with theology of Christ, most importantly emphasizing the surpassing value of knowing Christ above any other thing and relying on Christ for righteousness rather than relying on one&#8217;s own effort or merits.
