Central Texas Fellowship of Catholic Men<\/p><\/div>\n

Calling all Catholic men. We have a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a movement of men that want to make a real difference in the Church and in the world. We know how difficult it is to live out an authentic Christian witness in our world, and there is a true crisis of misunderstood and lacking masculinity. The Lord is calling us to be leaders of the faith in our families and in our parishes, but we cannot do it alone. We must support each other in this difficult journey, and a men’s conference is a perfect opportunity to find renewed commitment to our personal mission as Catholic men.<\/p>\n

Iron sharpens iron,\u00a0<\/span>and one person sharpens the wits\u00a0of another.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tim Staples<\/p><\/div>\n

Tim Staples<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Tim Staples was a fallen-away Southern Baptist who as a teen came back to faith in Christ through the witness of televangelists. During his four-year tour with the U.S. Marine Corps, he became friends with a Marine well-versed in his Catholic Faith who challenged Tim to study Catholicism from Catholic and historical sources. That sparked a two-year search for the truth. Immediately after his tour of duty, Tim attended Jimmy Swaggart Bible College and became a youth minister in an Assembly of God community. He was determined to prove Catholicism wrong, but he studied his way to the last place he thought he would ever end up: the Catholic Church. He converted in 1988 and spent six years in formation for the priesthood, earning a degree in philosophy and studying theology at the graduate level. Realizing that his calling was not to be a priest, Tim left the seminary in 1994 and has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization ever since.<\/p>\n

Trent Horn<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Trent Horn is an apologist at Catholic Answers. Since he converted to Catholicism at the age of 17, Trent has had a passion for explaining and defending the Faith. After college, Trent traveled the country training pro-life advocates on college campuses to engage opponents in compassionate and persuasive dialogue. Trent then earned a master\u2019s degree in theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville and before joining Catholic Answers served as a respect life coordinator for the Diocese of Phoenix. A dynamic speaker and debater, Trent is also the author of Answering Atheism<\/em> and Persuasive Pro-Life<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Bishop V\u00e1squez<\/p><\/div>\n

Bishop Joe V\u00e1squez<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bishop V\u00e1squez is the leader of the Diocese as the 5th Bishop of Austin. He studied theology at the University of St. Thomas in Houston from 1976 to 1980. He attended the Gregorian University, North American College, in Rome from 1980 to 1985. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of San Angelo on June 30, 1984 by Bishop Joseph A. Fiorenza.<\/p>\n

He currently serves on the following committees of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops:\u00a0Subcommittee on Hispanic Affairs<\/a>; and the Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America<\/a>.\u00a0 Bishop V\u00e1squez serves as the Episcopal Moderator of the National Catholic Association of Diocesan Directors of Hispanic Ministry <\/a>(NCADDHM) and on the Steering Committee of Christian Churches Together<\/a>(CCT).<\/p>\n
