If not it may be like when Rev. Charles Aked stated, &#8216;It has been said that for evil men to accomplish their purpose it is only necessary that good men should do nothing.&#8217;\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>U.S. Bishops Call to Prayer: \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170078\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170078\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-170078\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.austincnm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/FrMateoCorreaMagallanes-150x190.jpg?resize=150%2C190\" alt=\"St. Mateo Correa Magallanes,\" width=\"150\" height=\"190\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-170078\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St. Mateo Correa Magallanes<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The U.S. Bishops at <\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usccb.org\" target=\"_blank\">USCCB.org<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have dedicated Sunday, November 22, 2015, the Solemnity of Christ the King as a day to defend religious freedom in our country, and they strongly encourage us that it should be, &#8220;A time to pray for the protection of religious freedom<\/span><b>.&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170079\" style=\"width: 161px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170079\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-170079\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.austincnm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/FrMigueldelaMora-151x190.jpg?resize=151%2C190\" alt=\"St. Miguel de la Mora de la Mora\" width=\"151\" height=\"190\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-170079\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St. Miguel de la Mora de la Mora<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our U.S. Bishops realize that standing up for religious freedom can be unpopular in our day and time especially when the culture and the media are aggressively pulling in the opposite direction, but they encourage us and remind us that, &#8220;Bearing witness to the truth in this age can be difficult. But Christ has shown us that &#8216;kingship&#8217; must always be at the service of the good of mankind.&#8221; \u00a0This is what our six Mexican martyrs mentioned above did so well for the Catholic Church when they gave public witness with their very lives so that others in the near future would be free.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170081\" style=\"width: 161px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170081\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-170081\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.austincnm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/FrRodrigoAguilarAlemn-151x190.jpg?resize=151%2C190\" alt=\"St. Rodrigo Aguilar Alem\u00e1n\" width=\"151\" height=\"190\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-170081\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St. Rodrigo Aguilar Alem\u00e1n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">May the relics of these six Knights of Columbus saints intercede for us to receive a special grace of fortitude so that we will have the courage to preserve religious freedom even when it puts us out of favor with others close to us. \u00a0Knowing what we are facing the U.S. Bishops write for this special day, &#8220;Therefore, with His grace and in hope of His gift of salvation, let us bear witness to the truth, even when it is unpopular or costly to do so.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The Kingdom of God on earth and in heaven:<\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_170080\" style=\"width: 162px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-170080\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-170080\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.austincnm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/FrPedrodeJesusMaldonadoLucero-152x190.jpg?resize=152%2C190\" alt=\"St. Pedro de Jes\u00fas Maldonado Lucero\" width=\"152\" height=\"190\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-170080\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St. Pedro de Jes\u00fas Maldonado Lucero<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To prepare for the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven, we must learn from these six patron saints of religious freedom who really took to heart the words of Jesus, &#8220;<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whosoever shall seek to save his life, shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose it, shall preserve it.&#8221; (Lk.17:33) \u00a0This outlook and disposition are what being a true servant of the people of God is all about when the right to worship or express our faith is at risk or threatened. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our U.S. Bishops further remind us about public witness, &#8220;In this way, we become faithful servants of Christ, preparing the way for His Kingdom, both on earth and in heaven.&#8221; \u00a0These six saints certainly made ready the Kingdom of God on earth and in heaven for others when they poured their blood on the ground as the seed of faith and freedom because they truly understood that &#8220;Freedom is the highest sign in man that his being is made in the divine image.&#8221; (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church) \u00a0Viva Cristo Rey!
