The hours of this day stretch out before me
\nLike sheets on a clothesline.<\/p>\n

I know I need to take them
\nAnd fold them,
\nArrange them neatly,
\nThat they might fulfill their purpose.<\/p>\n

But I am mesmerized by their gentle movement in the breeze,
\nBy the white morning sun’s shimmering glow on them as they swing,<\/p>\n

More interested in their shapeless shadows on the lawn than in touching them
\nAt all.<\/p>\n

I am content, shame on me,
\nTo watch them hang useless…<\/p>\n

But so pretty.<\/p>\n
