I had never really attended a healing service before. Well…I had. But it was different. Very, very different. I was partially curious and partially skeptical to see how he would be different. Fellow St. William friends said he was not like others. I was definitely intrigued, so I went.

I loved so many things about the service. First, I loved that he works directly with and through the obedience of his bishop. This counts for a lot in my book. No one likes a renegade Catholic who does their own thing with little to no regard for authority. I recall a visiting bishop {I believe, though don’t hold me to that} who was introduced to the congregation. He then called up Mr. Ames for his blessing just before he started the healing service. At the end of the blessing, the bishop gave him a good slap on the head. I remember laughing, thinking about my own confirmation and the little slap on the head as our reminder of our suffering for Christ.

What I recall enjoying from last year had to do with his Eucharistic vision and the rosary. I don’t want to spoil it for you new folks, should he talk about it again this year, but his reverence and love for our Lord was quite evident. It was a very powerful evening for me, though I did not go up for any specific healing. I stayed in the pew and prayed for those who went up.

This year, Mr. Ames is going to talk about the gift of healing and being a Catholic evangelist. The evening starts with Mass at 5 p.m. in the main church, followed by the healing service.

The details can be found at the St. William website or below.

Who: Alan Ames

What: Mass followed by healing service

When: Sunday, March 11 at 5 p.m.

Where: St. William Catholic Church, 620 Round Rock West, Round Rock 78681

Last year, I was excited to see who this Alan Ames guy was who came to St. William.
