This homily was given by Deacon Guadalupe at St Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Austin, TX on the Solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord in the season of Easter.<\/p>\n

\"The_AscensionOfOurLord\"<\/p>\n

“When they had gathered together they asked him,
\n\u201cLord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?\u201d
\nHe answered them, \u201cIt is not for you to know the times or seasons
\nthat the Father has established by his own authority.
\nBut you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
\nand you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
\nthroughout Judea and Samaria,
\nand to the ends of the earth.\u201d
\nWhen he had said this, as they were looking on,
\nhe was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight.
\nWhile they were looking intently at the sky as he was going,
\nsuddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them.
\nThey said, \u201cMen of Galilee,
\nwhy are you standing there looking at the sky?
\nThis Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven
\nwill return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n
