Seeking the Prayers of a Servant

handsout

As I sat down to write this week, I was filled with heaviness.  The past several weeks have been filled with loss and sadness for friends and, I’ll admit, I find myself rather empty of much to offer the ACNM community.

Stumbling for inspiration, I happened upon the realization that today (Sept. 5) is the feast day of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta.  I have nothing profound to say about this amazing servant of Christ, I only implore her prayers today, not only for us but for those on the margins of our society.

To one who saw Christ in all, who loved the “least of these” and sated the thirst of countless bodies,
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.

To one who heard in the words of Christ, “I thirst,” a deeper call to love,
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.

To one who was well acquainted with death and did not fear it for herself,
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.

To one who knew darkness and learned to love it,
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.

For boldness in the face of evil,
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.

For love in the face of hatred,
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.

For eyes to see the broken and hearts gracious enough to share in their suffering,
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
