I’ve told the story before of my first experience standing outside of Planned Parenthood during prayer vigil. It was the summer before I graduated and was completing an assignment for a photojournalism class.
I’d supported pro-life organizations and prayed at prayer vigils, but never directly on the sidewalk outside a Planned Parenthood or other abortion facility. It was there, at 7:30 a.m., that the battle finally became real.
The day I found myself outside of Waco’s Planned Parenthood was part of Pro-Life Waco’s very own prayer campaign. Every week, a dedicated group of people, Catholics and non-Catholics gathered outside to pray for the conversion of hearts.
On Wednesday, coordinated prayer efforts will begin in 306 cities across America (including Austin) and in eight countries around the world! According to the Central Texas Coalition for Life, the results of the local campaign in Austin have been nothing short of amazing.
This campaign has brought together 2,000 people from more than 90 different churches in prayer. Over the past four years, 180 women have chosen life for 183 children (three women pregnant with twins)!
All of this because of prayer and the powerful witness of life. You have an opportunity to participate during the next 40 days to pray that those facing a crisis pregnancy may be filled with the courage and hope to choose life for their unborn children.
Consider signing up to participate in the 40 day prayer vigil from September 25 – November 3rd. In addition to being a witness for Life on the sidewalks outside these abortion clinics, pray along with daily devotions found on the 40 Days For Life website.
To kick off the campaign the Central Texas Coalition for Life’s Kick-Off Rally is TONIGHT from 7-8 p.m. in front of the Planned Parenthood off of Ben White in Austin, Texas. Click on the banner below to get more details about the event.
